Lourdes Pilgrimage – New Helpers and Young Helpers Day
This day is for New Helpers, Young Helpers, Doctors, Nurses, Chaplains, Assistant Chaplains and Support Services, collectively known as Hospitalité.
The purpose of the day is to help you feel more confident about the part that you will play in making this ‘journey to a holy place’ a successful experience, both physically and spiritually, for all of us who will travel together.
There is a great deal of information to absorb, this day will help with understanding what the pilgrimage is about, how it works and what will be expected.
The information provided is an essential part of the preparation of hospitalité, introducing the spiritual journey you will undertake through your service to others, your role as hospitalité, key practicalities of the pilgrimage and practice and guidance on using wheelchairs for your safety and the safety of the pilgrims you are helping. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions.
Uniforms, for those who need them, will be available throughout the day and again on Briefing Day.
Please bring a packed lunch. Tea, coffee, soft drinks and biscuits will be available throughout the day.
The ability to serve each other and all our pilgrims, especially those who are sick, will be greatly enhanced by the time spent in preparation.
